|That's a good question and it's usually the first question customers ask us. The answer varies depending on several factors.
Will the pig be the main entrée?
Are most of the guests pretty good eaters?
Do you wanna have leftovers? Ok dumb question, of course ya do!!
If you answered YES to all of these questions then The Pig Roast Guys recommend that you figure approximately 1.5 lbs of pig for each person that will be eating pig.
If you answered NO to some of them then The Pig Roast Guys would recommend that you scale back a bit and figure approximately 1 lb to 1.25 lb of pig for each person that will be eating pig.
Another factor to keep in mind when considering your order is the smaller the pig (under 100lbs) the less meat yield per pound of pig. The larger the pig the higher the meat yield per pound of pig.
All that stuff makes it sound like it's hard to figure out but it's actually not that difficult. The chart below should help. If you need us we're always available to assist you, just email us or give us a call: 518.221.7110.
Our service requires a Minimum order of a 75 lb Pig
We are able to accommodate almost any size pig order over 75 lbs.
|The bigger the pig obviously the longer time it will need to cook. The longer it cooks the more likely it becomes that some of the meat will overcook and dry out. For juicier, sweeter, more tender meat The Pig Roast Guys recommend cooking several smaller pigs (no larger than 200 lbs) as opposed to one or two huge hogs.|
